St. Jeans Cannery and Smokehouse have been the leaders in canning Fish since 1961 right here In Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.
Our fish is cooked only once in the can, in our human grade facility. Using only premium Salmon, Tuna, Herring, Hake or Cod (livers) wild caught off the Shores of Vancouver Island. Locking in all the Nutrients without adding water or oil. Our cans are BPA free and have a convenient pop lid.
We never use by-products, artificial colors or preservatives. Healthy Shores does not contain any Corn, Wheat or Soy and is recommended by Ocean Wise as a sustainable seafood option.

Ocean Wise's recommendations are based on 4 criteria. An Ocean Wise recommended species is: ... Harvested in a method that ensures limited bycatch on non-target and endangered species. Harvested in ways that limit damage to marine or aquatic habitats and negative interactions with other species. Our Tuna is also certified Dolphin safe.

Mercury is not an issue for Albacore Tuna caught in the coastal waters of the Pacific Northwest (Canada -US) the fish harvested in this area are typically 3 – 4 years old and weight approximately 3 to 11 kg (6.5 – 24 lbs.), they are too young to have accumulated any harmful levels of Mercury.

Ideal for joints, omega-3 reduces stiffness and inflammation helps maintain vision and eye health. Fish and shellfish can also improve night vision for cats. Seafood improves the state of the brain, sufficient consumption of omega-3 fatty acids, contribute to the proper growth of the brain in infants and increased calcium and phosphorus for bone growth of kittens and milk production of their mothers

Seafood supplies necessary nutrients and is known as a natural source of vitamins and minerals. Vitamin D, vitamins of group B (B1, B3, biotin, B12). Vitamin A helps to protect eyesight and improve immunity and reproductive function. Vitamin D is healthy for bone growth, aids in the absorption of calcium and increases the effectiveness of the immune system, as well as cell growth.

Seafood promotes the health of the heart. It is very nutritious, although it does not contain fat it significantly reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

 Helps to retain moisture in the skin and promotes a healthy coat and helps reduce itchiness

Selenium, contained in seafood, is a powerful antioxidant and has a positive effect on the functioning of the immune system.

Our first line is Healthy Shores, complete and balanced AAFCO compliant meals, made from Salmon, Herring, Hake (Whitefish) or Albacore Tuna. It is available for dogs in a 397g or 170g can and is a Minced texture. Cat is available in the same flavours Minced or Pate in 100g cans.

Nootka Pure is a single ingredient line of supplemental feeding cans;

-50%/50% Salmon and Bones (pate), high in calcium great for pregnant and lactating mothers, fast growing puppies and those recovering from surgery or illness.

-Black Cod Livers (pate), high in Vitamin A and D and Omega 3 fatty acids, great for reducing inflammation/joint pain, eye health, bone health, reduce the risk of heart disease. Black Cod livers are more palatable than cod liver oil.
